Q: I don't see any CD comes with the card reader, do I need one? Is it a regular USB connected device?

A: Yes, it is a internal connected USB device that doesn't need driver. It is standard driver that load in any XP OS.

Q: Will my motherboard support the S/PDIF?

A: Your motherboard must have a S/PDIF output port in order to use the jack. It is standard RCA jack. You can purchase any RCA type optical digital audio cable to connect it to the AC3 receiver/amplifier that has the S/PDIF or digital input port. Remember to change the computer audio output to all digital in this type of connection.
